Composing for the Cutting-Edge, the Weird, and the Wonderful
Sage Henriksen (He/they) is a Los Angeles based composer and singer-songwriter. His main instruments are guitar, bass, voice, banjo and synthesizers.
He started his music journey singing at the age of seven with jazz/musical theater which eventually led him to learning opera on scholarship at Idyllwild Arts Academy. During his time singing opera he was a semifinalist in the LA Opera Spotlight Competition. From there, Sage dove deep into the classical world studying classical music at Boston University Tanglewood Institute and CSUN's Music Department where he began composing. His original work led him to attending CalArts on scholarship.
Since he graduated from CalArts’ Performer-Composer program and he has composed for three professional projects: Sumin Ha’s animated short Good Life (2023), Jack Freiberger’s feature film The Great Lake Bums (2024), and Kamiya Willoughby’s short film Dottie (2025) which just premiered at the LA Short Film Fest.
He is currently working on Space Pirate TV , an in-development Otome game. When he isn't composing, Sage is teaching private music lessons, volunteering as a pirate at the Irwindale Ren Faire or recording his album.
